Been there, drawn that

I made a few sketches last weekend in DeArte exhibition in Madrid (if anyone is interested in USk catalogue, check the group webpage ).

All in all, "The Beach" episode in Avatar TLA was all fun, except for some introspection at the end of the episode. Zuko, Mai and Ty all admitted and accepted their issues, yet Azula refused to acknowledge them, even when they surfaced very briefly. I did this with TRIA markers, watercolors and a slight PS retouching to correct scanned color and a small mistake (working on A3 would do that for inpatient me :P). It pretty much briefs that moment.

From last weekend, close to Plaza Santa Ana

Here is the Maria Zambrano station, for the high speed trains (AVE) to Madrid. I used the occasion to check who Maria Zambrano was: a local philosopher born in 1901 who studied with Ortega y Gasset. If you want to forget about your child, just sit him in a different row and give him a PC and earbuds. Or so seemed to think the guy sitting on my left. Who cares if a kid barely 7 years old spends 3 whole hours looking into a laptop :P :(

Yuck! At least, I was a better player at the time :P :D

This is a 10 minutes video that a friend did while I was explaining him the basics to draw buildings as fast as possible. It is in spanish, and I'm too lazy to sub it, but one can follow the explanation from the video, I think :)

I guess everyone was expecting this one :D I want a Desert Eagle too! :P

Still working on Avatar until I stumble upon another obsession.. I had this idea a while ago and it took me some time to put it to paper. It's no big secret that Klimt is one of my fav painters and I'm particularly in love with this piece since, like, forever, so I decided to borrow the concept. Most people who have watched the series may probably wonder why I like Azula so much, taking into account that she is like the second most evil character in the ATLA. However, in "The Beach" episode and a few more glimpses to the princess' past, we get to see that, in fact, she felt neglected by her mother as a kid, and with good reason, because lady Ursa, not only considers that something is wrong with her, but only pays attention to Zuko and even fails to say goodbye to her daughter when she leaves. What kind of mother gives up on a kid? It's always been annoying to me that parents pay extra-attention to weak kids and neglect the (apparently) strong ones, assuming t

I had already sketched both Sokka and Katara in russian painting style, but someone suggested that a tribal style would be more fit. It is, indeed, so as soon as I figured out what to do, I did this piece. It is based on tribal art from Alaska.

Syria is not getting much help from the international community to preserve their heritage and it is a real problem, because there are jewels like Palmyra or the quite less known Bosra that will make you gape in awe. However, they are now part of very poor neighbourhoods, where people live like beggars inside beautiful millenary ruins ... Of course, it might actually be a better idea to help people first and then the ruins, but nothing seems to be coming in any of those ways ...

In fact, I think I like all Avatar tlA characters except possibly Fire Lord Ozai, he's just a megalomaniac who never really did anything to gain his position- In any case, Suki is the kind of friend I'd like to have (even though Azula kicked her ass :P :D), so here she is: Suki in chinese painting style (I'm using this for Earth Kingdom and Ukiyo-e for the Fire Nation, I think it fits)

She is probably one of the most evil characters I've seen in a fantasy comicbook, but, hey, she's got style!
